Josef von Fuehrich (1800 Kratzau/Bohemia - 1876 Vienna) was a renowned Austrian historical painter and one of the best representatives of the Nazarene Art. Together with Koch, Schnorr and Veit he worked (under the supervision of Overbeck) on frescoes at the Villa Massimi in Rome. Fuehrich was professor at the Vienna Academy, teacher and an ongoing inspiration for many Austrian painters. His works can be found at museums worldwide, as well as in churches of Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. * Sheet seventeen from an album with 20 drawings from the cycle "Ovid's Metamorphoses" - copy after engraving by Sadeler. One of the earliest works by Josef von Fuehrich (1800-1876). **The authenticity of this work was confirmed in 1993 by Dr.Rittinger, a late Fuehrich expert from Vienna, who himself owned one drawing from this album.
