This work strongly resembles Art Nouveau jewelry projects drawn by famous French designer Rene Jules Lalique (1860-1945). This particular project is a work of the latter's friend and colleague, Parisian artist of applied arts, Paul François Louchet (1854-1936).
It is one of the eight similar works acquired from the same private collection (Corsica). Some of these works bear the impressed stamp of Louchet's studio that he self-established in the late 19th century on No.3, rue Auber in the 9th Parisian arrondissement.
In this studio, Louchet - a "ciseleur" (engraver) and "bronzier" (bronze maker) - produced various art works (vases, plastic objects, jewelry, etc.) in then fashionable Art Nouveau style (many of them also strongly echo the works of his Czech colleague and contemporary Alphonse Mucha, who was working in Paris at that time). One of Louchet's friends (and besides Lalique and Mucha, clearly a role model influencing his art) was famous Art Nouveau glass designer Daum.
Our additional images show several other works of Paul François Louchet and offer his extensive biography (also, CLICK HERE).
