Andreas Thornborg (1730 Mondal, Norway - 1780 Copenhagen) began as a painter of coats-of-arms and then devoted himself to miniatures. From about 1750 he worked in Copenhagen where he painted miniatures of Kings Frederik V and Christian VII and Queens Dorothea and Caroline Mathilda. Nevertheless he did not succeed in getting himself appointed as painter to the Court of Denmark. He was the master of Cornelius Hoyer.
