John Hayter (1800 London - 1895 London) was a son of celebrated portrait artist Charles Hayter (1761-1835). Between the years 1815 and 1879 he exhibited his works at the Royal Academy. He began studying at London Royal Academy Schools on November 24, 1815, at the age of 15. Hayter mainly produced portraits and genre paintings. He was a prolific artist who had a distinguished clientele. Some of his exhibits at the Royal Academy took place at its Drawing (sic!) Section.
