Adam Buck was born in Cork inb 1759 and died in London in 1833. Son of a goldsmith, he worked first in Cork and in Dublin and settled in London in 1795. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1795 to 1833 and at the British Institute in 1808 and 1809, He painted miniatures on ivory, portraits in watercolor and genre subjects which were reproduced in engravings. Works of his are to see in London Victoria & Albert Museum, in Dublin National Gallery and other British and international museums.
