Wincenty de Lesseur-Lesserowicz "Lady in blue coat", high quality miniature on ivory, ca. 1800 1900 EUR THE SELLER WILL COVER SHIPPING WITH REGULAR MAIL FOR THIS ITEM! Wincenty de Lesseur-Lesserowicz (1745 Warsaw - 1813 ibidem) was a son of a French colonel and pupil of both the best late 19th century Polish portraitist Marcello Bacciarelli and his wife Friederike. The artist spent some time in Vienna where he was influenced by Fueger (sic!), yet we do not know, whether he was his pupil or not. Lesseur was thought very highly of by the King Stanislaw August of Poland, who enobled him in 1781. He executed numerous orders for the King, as well as for the Mniszech family. Lesseur was primarily a miniaturist, but also painted portraits in oils and pastel. Besides real-life miniatures, he did numerous copies, chiefly after Bacciarelli, Fueger and Lampi. Schidlof writes: "…from afar certain Lesseur's miniatures resemble Fueger's in an amazing way and seem to be first class works…".
