1 EUR = 1 USD SUMMER SALE from June 2, 2025 Additional 30% off each final item price! Even if already discounted! # 37505 S.I. Sudarikov-Attrib. "Moscow Post Master S.I. Sibert & his wife", two watercolors in Lukutin frames 2000 EUR These two watercolor portraits were acquired on the 11th of November 2013 at German auction house "Hermann Historica". According to the old authentic legends on verso of both of them, they show high-ranking (he bears relatively high Russian awards reflective of his high standing in the Russian state hierarchy) official Samoilo Ivanovich Sibert (typical German family name; in Russian phonetic transcription - Zibert) and his wife Elena Fedorovna Sibert, nee Raschke (also of Russo-German descent). Further, the legends inform us that the husband was born in 1797 (in this portrait, he appears to be ca. 60/65 years of age - a detail that offers the approximate date of execution, i.e. 1860s), probably in Ekaterinburg (Ural) and died in Moscow in 1868. Additionally the legends say that he was buried at the Lutheran Cemetery at Vedenskye Gory (Vedensky Hills) in Moscow, and that his wife was born in 1803, died on the 20th of February 1885 and was buried at Alexeevsky Monastery in Moscow.
