Since there are two German miniaturists, working in Russia (apparently in St. Petersburg) at the turn of the 19th century that signed their works only by their surname "von Algenstädt" (sometimes also in Cyrillic), it is impossible to say which of the two was the author of the miniature presented here - the father Johann Christian Ludwig Algenstaedt (Algenstädt; 1752 Landsberg an der Warthe, now Gonzow Wielkopolski, Poland - after 1819 ibd.) or his son Carl Friedrich Algenstädt (1788 Russia (?) - after 1861 Landsberg an der Warthe).
In this case it is clearly a work of the son:
It is signed in Cyrillic with "f(riedrich). Algenstädt".
